Venezuelans Javier Castellano and Gustavo Delgado are the new jockey and coach, Kentucky Derby champions
Venezuelan jockey Javier Castellano competed in the 149th Kentucky Derby on Saturday, May 6 with the horse Mage. The jockey is from Maracaibo, Zulia state, and is 45 years old. His career began in horse racing in 1996 and most of his career was in our United States. Castellano was among the top 10 riders with Most annual wins since 2010.
His titles include Breeders' Cup Classic (2004) and Preakness Stakes (2006) and 2017). In its earliest form, it was honored with the Eclipse Award in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016. In 2017, Castellano became a member of the Hall of the Fame of the National Museum of Horse Racing in the United States.
